Fungicides are biocidal substances of chemical or biological origin used to control pathogens in crops, orchards, vineyards, ornamental plants, and more. Based on their mode of action, fungicides can be: contact, which act externally without penetrating the plant; systemic, which are absorbed through the leaves or stems and transported internally via the sap; or translaminar, which act locally systemic, providing protection on both the upper and lower surfaces of the treated area. Fungicides can also have a preventive action, when applied to healthy plants to prevent disease occurrence, or a curative action, when applied after infection to stop disease development and spread. For effective protection and to avoid the development of resistant pathogen strains, it is recommended to alternate products containing different active substances.
